#35 Fitted Gaiter
The goal here is to deliver a functional and adaptable design trimmed out in such a way that most folks can easily & inexpensively collect the ingredients and won’t need special tools although more demanding options are discussed inside. Size is determined by measurement around your boot cuff since these are form-fitting gaiters. Height of the gaiters is plotted directly from your own measurements. 

Features:

• Form-fitting design is less apt to snag or trip you up.
  An important feature particularly when wearing crampons or skis.

• 2" wide, overlapping, Hook and Loop closure in front;
  - is very fast on and off.
  - avoids potential zipper complications in the future.
  - is very secure & degree of overlap can be varied to adjust fit.

• Lined Bottom section is neat, durable and avoids problems from unraveling fabric edges or loose threads.

• Adjustable top webbing band.

• This gaiter pattern design uses only readily available fabric, hardware and webbing.

Bottom Lining
Lighter weight than the bottom shell. A wide range of waterproof or water repellent fabrics will work as long as they aren't too flimsy (it rubs on your boot hardware) and don't absorb water. Packcloth is good or any tightly-woven synthetic weighting between 4 and 8 ounces per square yard (approx 200 to 430 denier).

Upper Shell
For waterproof uppers, it's tough to beat the performance of a "waterproof-breathable" fabric laminate such as Super Waterproof/Breathable-tex in a three layer construction. The three-layer construction has a textured, protective mesh laminated to the inside as well. These three-layer laminates are easier to sew, the inside feels better and promotes evaporation, and they are tougher than "two-layer". Two-layer "waterproof-breathable" laminates are readily available for less money in a range of weights and do a fine job also. They are far better than non-breathable, urethane coated fabrics which will leave most folks with sweaty calves.

200 Denier Heavy Coated F/R Oxford - New!!!
4 oz per sq. yard 200 Denier. This is not your typical, lightly coated nylon oxford; in addition to being flame retardant, it has a super heavy 1-1/2 ounce flame retardant urethane coating! 430 Denier Packcloth
7 oz. per sq yd.  This tough durable fabric has a polyurethane coating yet it remains flexible and easy to work with.  The polyurethane coating makes this fabric waterproof yet lightweight.  It is extremely abrasion resistant.

500 Denier Cordura
8 oz. per sq yd.  A very nice urethane coated fabric with a Cordura weave.  It is lighter than 1000D Cordura and heavier than 430D pack cloth.  This is the perfect fabric when you want a Cordura weave without the weight and stiffness of 1000D.

1000 Denier Cordura
11 oz. per sq yd.  A very heavy weight nylon with a urethane coating.  It has excellent tear strength and is very abrasion resistant.  This fabric is amazingly tough and versatile.

9 oz. per sq yd.  850 Denier.  This is a medium weight urethane coated nylon that has the ballistics weave; tough yet flexible.
