These pocket zippers have a special design and a vinyl treatment that make them water resistant and eliminate the need for storm flaps.  These types of zippers are what one would find in very high end mountaineering gear.

Coil Zipper Tape   
Sold by the yard, this very strong and flexible continuous coil zipper tape can be cut into any length.  This is the perfect zipper for bags, tents, or packs.  It cannot be made into a separating zipper.  At least one end has to be sewn in.  (Need top stops for zippers that open on one end, 5¢ each.)

Vislon Zipper Tape-Molded Tooth
Sold by the yard; this very strong continuous Vislon zipper tape can be cut into any length.  This is the perfect zipper for marine use.  It cannot be made into a separating zipper.  At least one end has to be sewn in. (Need top stops for zippers that open on one end, 5¢ each.)

Water Resistant #5 Coil  Zipper Tape
This unique zipper tape has a vinyl coating that keeps the water out, without having to add a storm flap.  Used for everything from bags and packs to venting and pit zips in outerwear.  Can be cut into any length.  At least one end has to be sewn in. #5 Coil Water Resistant Zipper Single Sided Sliders
This slide has the pull tab on the "wrong" side for use with the #5 water resistant zipper tape.  Unlike usual zipper the water resistant tape is put in with the back facing out so this slide is specially made so you can zip your zipper with the back facing out.

This informative 4 page "how to" sheet deals with all the aspects of zippers-from shortening and adding top stops to applying zipper slides singly or so they meet in the middle.  It shows tricks used for both coil and molded tooth zippers with great illustrations.

DIRECTIONS: 
For best results, preclean with McNett Zip Care. Thoroughly clean zipper, removing all sand, dirt and other debris. Open zipper and apply Zip Tech sparingly only to the outer teeth of zipper. To thoroughly distribute lubricant, close and open zipper carefully. Repeat process until zipper moves freely. Wipe away excess. To prolong zipper life, reapply Zip Tech periodically and prior to prolonged storage periods.

Zip Care
Liquid Zipper Cleaner & Lubricant. Zip Care is the ultimate zipper care for plastic, nylon or metal zippers. Unique push-pull brush top enables the cleaner to be delivered between the teeth and physically removes harmful dirt, sand, and salt deposits that can jam the zipper.

DIRECTIONS:
Prior to application, unzip garment and use brush, with cap in closed position, to remove sand, mud and other debris. Remove grit from brush before lubricating zipper. Open cap and brush generous amount of Zip Care onto zipper teeth. Reapply regularly, especially before storage periods. Close cap and rinse brush after use.
